There are three types of cannabidiol (CBD); cbd isolate,  full-spectrum cbd, and broad-spectrum cbd. The differences between them relates to the contents of each form.  Isolates only contain CBD with no other cannabinoids or THC. Broad-spectrum CBD contains most of the cannabis plant compounds whereas full-spectrum CBD includes all pat of the cannabis plant.

Full-spectrum CBD products have multiple cannabis plant extracts containing terpenes, flavonoids, other cannabinoids and may contain up to 0.3% of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). Some of the additional cannabinoids found in full-spectrum CBD products include CBG (cannabigerol), CBC (cannabichromene) and CBN (cannabinol).  THC-A is the cannabinoid that is converted into THC in the cannabis plant that produces that “high” feeling that people associate with cannabis use. However the legal limit being 0.3% THC for CBD products is such a low amount of THC. This is not strong enough to have significant psychoactive effects. CBD can also be used to take the edge off of an uncomfortable high caused by THC. By using CBD it binds to the same receptors in the brain that THC activates. This allows the THC to be filtered out and not have such a strong or long lasting effect as it would have by itself. It is important to know the ratio of your full spectrum CBD product and do research on what is best for you as an individual.

Due to the fact that full-spectrum CBD contains all the cannabis plant compounds, it may have more potent effects compared to pure CBD. “Research suggests that CBD health benefits may be more prominent when multiple compound from the plant are present. This is what researches call the ‘entourage effect’ ” (Medical News Today).

As we have recently seen, CBD is being used and talked about by many and for good reason. CBD oils are “high in protein and omega 3’s, eco-friendly and vegan, but it offers a myriad of health benefits” (FirstCrop).  Many doctors all over the world are working on studies to obtain more evidence surrounding how using CBD daily can lead to improved health and wellness. Full-spectrum CBD has various benefits surrounding health, body and mind such as anti-seizure, muscle spasm relief, anti-anxiety, pain relief, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, sleep, and treatment for psychotic disorders.
