Have you ever stopped to think about where the best cannabis cities are?  If you’ve never taken a cannabis roadtrip before, I highly recommend it. There are so many cool cities, towns, and dispensaries just waiting for you to visit. Such a fun way to hit the open road, see new places and try new cannabis along the way. Safely, of course. Be smart about it.

Thanks to Colorado and Washington becoming the first states to legalize recreational marijuana in 2012, the so-called “Green Rush” of legal weed has grown. Now, with 18 states following in their footsteps, there are more options for enthusiasts to explore. Recently,”a new list of the “Best Weed Cities in the U.S.” suggests that not all kush is created equal. The list, compiled by Real Estate Witch, ranked each city on a number of weighted factors, including legality, price (in relation to average annual income), dispensaries per capita, and — no kidding — the number of Taco Bell restaurants in the area” (Kron 4 News). Wait a second, Taco Bell? Of all things for the munchies, good ol’ Taco Bell huh?

Any guesses on what the top 10 cities are? Top 5 maybe? Do you think California made the cut? Let’s be real, of course California made it.

Would you be surprised if I told you that Denver also known as the Mile High City was number one on that list?  “Although there are many popular places to smoke weed in Colorado, none is better than the state’s capital,” Real Estate Witch wrote. “Weed is easily accessible in Denver, with 7x the number of dispensaries (9.8 per 100,000 residents) and nearly 3x the number of head shops (2.2 per 100,000 residents) as the average city” ( Kron 4 News).

A ranking of the top ten “weed cities” as determined by Real Estate Witch:

  1. Denver, Colorado
  2. Portland, Oregon
  3. Sacramento, California
  4. Las Vegas, Nevada
  5. San Jose, California
  6. Seattle, Washington
  7. San Francisco, California
  8. San Diego, California
  9. Los Angeles, California
  10. Phoenix, Arizona

A complete ranking of all 50 cities included in the study can be found at Real Estate Witch.

Pretty cool to see 5 California cities on that list, especially being that 2 of them are in the Bay Area, like us!
